10 years ago i bought a CHEVRON VEE packing set from these guys... You just need to know the ID, OD and how many rings you want.......... dont know about the nut.

If its the old single acting rear lift cylinder, i think they were all chevron... If your talking about a loader or boom cylinder, thats different.

I used a long wood screw to screw into the old packing to pull it out. Take care not to bugger up the cylinder. Although mine are pitted pretty bad.

Got lucky since I just did this. The packing is expensive at $87 per side.
I need to do this on my D10 also. Both sides the packing looked like it was not put in correctly. I assume this is a source of water infiltration for tractors left outside. |

Can you measure the OD and ID and get a GENERIC set of VEE rings ? I did that on a couple B tractors several years ago ...Dont know about the price. Since you gave the PN, i assume you bought from dealer.
looks like in general each ring is $6-8 . so your price dont seem too bad !! Edited by steve(ill) - 12 Nov 2020 at 3:57pm |

I thought I needed to do that to my D-10 also, but at $87.
I made a wrench to fit it just a couple days ago. Dusty

It seems as if that (sealsales) vendor would be a lot cheaper . $25 a side with 5 total rings . I could swing that ! I quess 3000 psi would cover an old machine ??

The older machines are 3200 psi or so... depending on who has done the adjustments.. I see some rings are "rubber" and some have "FIBER" mixed in.. the fiber should be a little more resistant to wear - damage - pressure.. look at the ones Charlie pulled out.. they are not 100% RUBBER. .......... you only see 3200 psi when STALLED OUT in the raise position.
I think the first 3 rings listed on that page is what your looking for ... FF is female fiber ring (one end)...MF is male fiber ring (one end)... and VF is VEE fiber, the center rings ( i bet there are 3).... and you have to figure the SHIPPING cost ?

I went ahead and ordered a set for my D10. $50 is the min. order they do so I added an extra rubber ring.
$15 shipping. $68 if it works for 20 years I will be money ahead :)

The new seals came in today. The first and last pieces look the same as the AGCO ones
The middle ones are the same material as the end pieces. I thought they would have been rubber. I will see of they work when I remember to put them on :)

when you order the rings, the last two digits of the part number are VF or VH.... the VF is FABRIC ...... the VH is RUBBER....... you can use either... rubber is probably a little softer without the fabric.... bet it works !!
