I was looking at a D12 with a hydraulic oil tank between the distributor housing and oil filter. It connects to a pulley driven pump off the crank just under the distributor drive and has lines running to rear of tractor.
Was the setup better/worse than rear pump setups? Redundant? Owner didn't know anything about it. Thanks. Here is a pic of the setup on another tractor. ![]() Edited by KMAG - 13 Aug 2021 at 11:51am |

That's be a 'live' hydraulic setup..as long as engine is running, you got hydraulics. With the regular setup, push the clutch in you lose hydraulics.

That was used on many of the earlier D10/12 tractors when a "Traction booster" system wasn't needed, just a lift/lower system. Such as when a tractor was to be primarily only used for cultivating. That pump system also was used to power the power assist steering offered as a option on D10/12 tractors.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY |
