I went to a consignment auction at Buffalo Lake, MN that had a large collection that was being dispersed.  Quite a few JD's but did have a few Allis tractors that were very nicely restored.  Here are prices on the orange tractors:

D 10  very nice  $5600
D 12  very nice    6000
D 14  very nice    3000
D 17 dsl wide front   6250

AC 175 gas w/cab different seller (needed TLC)   $ 4000
AC 170 gas w/cab  also needed TLC                        3400

More from the collection

JD 830 dsl wf nice  9500
JD 620 gas wf 3pt   2600
JD 530 gas wf 3pt   7750
JD 520 gas wf 3pt   6100

Oliver 990 GM dsl wf driven coast to coast East to West and Alaska to southern US  $16000
Had other brands such as Case, IH, etc but I walked away for a while.  Didn't buy any tractors.

Interesting -- I, too,  would have had to come home with an empty trailer.

I found this:

Jim Clark, a successful farmer from Marion, Ohio, conceived the idea of driving an Oliver 990 from the Atlantic to the Pacific. He received the endorsement from the Oliver Company, the Goodyear Tire Company, and a fuel company. With all of this support he made the trip using a fast road gear in just a few weeks. The advertisement benefits exceeded all expectations and this inspired the second trip which began in Alaska but ended on the Mexican border when the neighbors to the south said 'No way, Jose.'
