I am looking at a D 19 diesel. The block head bolts holes are warn. The person put a helocoil in a couple.New head gasket. What do I need to watch out for. Cracked head maybe.

Cracked heads, sleeves recessed into the block = $$$$$$. Buy it cheap and plan on a complete overhaul ($5K to start), or take the Dr's advice....

or buy it cheap and put in a 433 I... or a cummins 4BT ...or... put in a 6 cyl. gas.

Or just keep that money and invest it into a tractor that doesn't need expensive repairs from the get-go.

Had to chuckle a little reading this post, this must have been ours from 40years ago, father said it needed zippers--lol. Took two people for grinding feed, one to load corn and another watching the tractor for leaks. IMO-- the D19 diesel is a liability, not an asset.

From personal experience with a 19 gas...it seems to be a one sided working relationship.
