I'm sure it's been posted here but I don't recall the answer. What do you recommend for lubricating O rings when I install new sleeves. Thanks

I used to think I was indecisive, but now I'm not sure.

I think most use plenty of liquid hand soap. Dry fit them first without 'O' rings. When I use to fit them dry, I put a piece of masking tape inside the liner at the front when I found the ideal location. Press the liner in with the palm of your hand , turning the liner at the same time. Worked for me. |

Mazola cooking oil or the like. Wipe the inside of the lower block bore with it and rub some more all over the Orings on the sleeves. Push them home and use a bolt and flat washer to keep them sunk clear in until you're ready to install the cylinder head.

Built many wet sleeve engines over the years, Best lube that will not affect Sleeve seals in any way, Crisco.

I use Crisco at work because that's what they have. It works just as good as the Mazola oil.

i have used dish soap , vegtible oil ,antifreeze, white grease, over the years got to be carefull you dont waste time with antifreze because it will make some o rings swell , but right now i have a bottle of, john deere 308 o ring lubricating soap . seem s to work good but it was about $25.00 a bottle, but i bet it lasts for 25 engines

Gallon of Rubber lube at NAPA was $13.95 2 weeks ago. NAPA calls it Ruglide. And you can use the rest of it fixing tires.
