We have this brown Leghorn hen. This morning it crowed three times. It wasn't real good at it, but it defiantly crowed. I only seen one other hen do this in my life, and it was an odd hen. It was wild and a loaner. It wouldn't run with the rest of the flock. This hen however, seems normal. It's the first time that I know of that it has crowed. We don't have a rooster. I wonder if the absence of a rooster is causing abnormal behavior? Has anyone ever seen or heard of this?

My Aunt had this old saying she told me when I was a kid. It was " A whistling woman and a crowing hen will all ways come to a no good end."

Considered BAD LUCK on the farm, you were to dispatch them immediately.  Or, you could just name it Maddow and give it to a neighbor you don't care for.

Yep that is the bull chicken in the absence of a rooster.

Google says to add a rooster to the flock and she will stop being the bull hen.  LOL
