The hood is the only thing painted orange on this tractor. The rest of the orange stuff? (Fenders and roof top) are orange plastic. Some armour all, or something of that nature should bring back the shine in those pieces. Darrel

I lot of the fading is a result of the EPA restricting emissions from some types of paints. Automotive manufacturers were forced to go to water based paints. The results can be seen in peeling paint on late 80's an early 90's cars.
A good automotive acrylic enamel with hardener will hold up well also. |

no matter what paint you use its going to look different than the rest of the tractor just because of fading so you will probably end up painting the whole thing

Clear coat over the corporate orange. It will help.

so if the first go around faded what makes one think that the second one won't. I would make sure that stuff from AGCO is not the same as other low grade enamels that look sharp when first put on.
I would go with a single stage urethane with hardener from an auto paint supplier. |

The 9000 and Dt agco tractors were corporate orange. A lot of new tractors fade and look at the cabs of a factory paint 8000 series they are all faded but the hood is not. (Well not as much. Haha.)

they will never replace lead base paint with any thing that will last and be scratch resistant again, and if your kids are dumb enough to eat paint ...

Go look at an IH 88 series. They turned pinkish or purplish shortly after leaving the factory.

I am having the hood re-painted on my 9755 Agco Allis, and the guy at the body shop told me to just get the paint for it from Agco dealer (Butler Equipment), and he'd shoot it on for me. For some reason, I was always under the impression that Agco Allis tractors had a different shade of orange on them than the last of the genuine Allis Chalmers tractors that rolled off the line. But the parts man at Butler said that corporate orange is what it called for, and I know that that is what the last Allis Chalmers tractors had on them, also. Is this correct? It really does piss me off, though, that this tractor, being less than 20 years old, should need the hood re-painted. What did they use for paint.......? Water with a little food coloring in it? Thanks, Darrel
