Didn't get very many pictures of corn silage harvest this year, but here is what I have. Yields ranged from 50% to 100% of normal. I was surprised how well the yields held up considering the weather. Did about 160 loads between the home farm and custom work. The close-up of the ears on the header is some drought corn I did for a friend of mine. Ears would have been really nice if it had been popcorn!

What's that stuff laying on the head in the 4th picture. We didn't see any of that stuff when we chopped our silage.

If you are filling a tower silo be extremly carefull with silo gas. With the drought, it a very bad year for silo gas production. (49 years building silos) Customer lost his only two sons and the hired man due to silo gas in 1977 in a 24' x 80' that I had built.

Tank is for water to lubricate spout and fan in gummy alfalfa silage conditions. Also can be used for bacterial inoculant/preservative (mixed with the water) applied to the silage as it's being chopped.
7040 handles it really well. It's been juiced up a little with an intercooler, turned up pump and computer balanced, but never have had on an accurate dyno to know what it's actually putting out. Wish we'd have gotten the 240 chopper. Can fill six 16' wagons an hour in corn silage if I have long rows and good help switching wagons.

I love to see pictures of the 7000 series. Awesome to see them still working. Even better chopping corn with a 3 Row Head! I would love to hear that tractor with a straight pipe running that forage harvester. Do you have any videos when you was chopping?
