Is Havoline Dex-Cool elc a compatable replacement coolant/antifreeze for the 301 diesels?
Have 3 tractors with coolant filters and 2 without. |

Read the spec. requirement, then look at what the anti-freeze will cover. I highly recommend that you get a PH balance test kit and check your anti-freeze twice a year. It may seem like overkill but what's that compared to a 10,000 dollar rebuild? Even with a water filter you need to do this at least once a year.

i run John Deere Cool-Gard in my 7020, suppose to be a good anti corrosion anti freeze designed for higher horsepower engines! I don't take pride in using deere stuff but its priced decent and its good and it comes in big jugs pre mixed

DEX-COOL is a reference to antifreeze that has been used by GM for 10 years or more. Recently FORD has converted to this type antifreeze... normally it is ORANGE... If used in motors not designed for it, it will attack plastic and rubber parts... IT IS NOT COMPATABLE with the yellow "extended life" or the old GREEN antifreeze... DO NOT MIX. |

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

I would not run it. Its decent stuff, but does not blend well, and is rather picky.
Get Cat EC-1 equivalent. Specifically made for diesels, and is long life. Great availability, and its not JD. :) Available at any auto parts store, sold under Zerex, Rotella, etc. it will be red. |
