Where is the best place to get new clutch’s for a 7050 power director. I understand Kevlar clutches are available. Has anyone used them? Any comments or recommendations?

Don't know how you plan to use it but I resealed the PD in my 8070 @5000 hrs and the friction plates were not visably worn. I would think with normal use and maintainance factory parts would last as long as you. Nothing wrong with Kevlar but doubt it's worth it.

I’m in Canada. Factory clutches are $270 each x 4 just for low range, x6 for both ranges. My PD was slipping and I need to replace low range clutches. I found a dealer in Edmonton who could supply the Kevlar clutches for 140 I believe. That is the obvious choice if they are ok, but I know absolutely nothing about them. I have considered buying used ones as well but I’ve gone to a lot of work to do the split, I may as well do it right.

I use the Kevlar plates in my 7040 puller, two seasons and they work great!! The stock plates would warp constantly, talked to the engineer at Tribco he guaranteed their plates would not warp. I was told by AGCO dealer they would engage a little harder but I cant tell since my clutch is highly modified.

The "kevlar" covers the driving discs, right ?? Are Tribco's separator "plates" any different ?? maybe thicker? A-C used thicker separator plates for low range on some applications and they don't warp as easily as the thinner separator plates. Or does the kevlar material create less heat when being slipped ??

Yes,they glue the kevlar on somehow, they are no thicker but they use the best steel available and I believe they do create less heat. On my puller the stock plates would only warp after they would start to transfer the bronze onto the separator plates, it would not be much material and it would be two to three in the middle of the pack. Mainly the clutch plates warped but every blue moon a separator plate would warp, I have all thick separator plates installed. I suggested maybe using spring steel because of its good memory but the engineer told me dont worry, they wont warp. Also told me a JD with good more hp is using them successfully.

After a failure like that, clutch pressure needs to be verified....195 to 205 psi minimum.

I would not use used plates. If you're in there do it right. I know a guy that used used separator plates that I checked on a flat piece of 1in plate that you couldn't feel it wobel. After he put new in it wouldn't drag. This was on a power shift 8050.
