It seems like we used to use steel wool pads once upon a time.  Brillo pads or SOS pads with warm water.  Rinse off with clear water when done removing rust.  If I remember correctly, you needed to then put some type of wax on the metal or it would rust again soon.  But it's been many years ago and my memory might not be quite right.

This doesn’t help much with rust, but as far as general appearance, Blue Magic Metal Polish Cream is great. You can get it at places like O’Reilly’s. Rub it on and it’ll make a galvanized Gleaner shine like a mirror. The shine wears off after a couple years if it’s kept inside.

If you want to get serious use the acid that truckers use to clean there aluminum , but you have to clear coat it right after or it looks like crap. Did this with an N7 years ago that had set outside before we bought it.  Another farmer close to us heard what I did and did that on a R72, but didn't clear coat and it looked like crap.
