I have a MTD chipper/shredder with a 5 HP B&S engine on it. Not enuff power...is there a way to get a 8 HP or 9HP  engine to mount on this.  I have found Honda and Techuseh engine's that appear to fit. Is there complications I am not aware of yet? Has anybody here done this?
Thanks!

Used a Techumcha engine on my vibrating packer plate (WACKER) it lasted about 4 hours , will not stand up to vibrations well. Replaced it with a Honda engine and no problems for 6 years now.

Shaft diamtere's are different( 5Hp= 7/8, 8Hp=1")..
Height of shaft from base is probably different..
If the impeller's a direct drive,it'l be 'fun' to repower...
Not impossible but $$$?
Maybe trade in,sell off the MTD for a bigger unit is a better option.

been there...done that....
