Anyone have any secrets as to how to remove the brass jets from cast iron bodies without destroying something?

Heat and penetrant , can try heating cast then applying crayon/wax around brass to soak into threads

I just use a small torch and heat the brass jets, then let them cool right off and they usually screw right out. The other thing is to make sure your screwdriver blade us a pretty snug fit in those jet slots. Too thin of a blade is what damages them. I do a lot of carbs in my shop and have a rack of screwdrivers specially ground to fit most jets.

yes, you'll need luck and...... ... file a chisel to FIT properly ! Top,sides, bottom of screwdriver should fit 'snug', NO slop, NO give. Spend an hour if you have to, far better than destroying the jet and learning a LOT of new '4 letter' words !!!

Several years ago, Dick L had a post on here that he removed the float, partially disassembled the carburetor, then put everything but the float in a pan of water with some dish soap and boiled the carb to clean it.
I have done this several times and I really like it. I take the carb out when it is hot and immediately remove the brass fittings. As Alberta Phil said, a screwdriver that fits is the secret. I would add this is a place to use good quality screwdrivers.

YEP... boil it in hot , soapy water... try to remove... if not loose, boil longer... Save the torch for later as a last resort.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.
