Stopped by the dealership today. Owner hired a guy to buy excess inventory from other dealers. They needed pickups. He forgot to tell this guy Do NOT buy a ford pickup with a v10 or 5.4 motor. Well he bought 3 ferds with 5.4 motors on Monday. All 3 are in the shop getting new motors installed. Boys in the shop were having fun seeing who could get done first, but done correctly. Heck I would have worked a day a week to do this.

My 5.4 has 295,000 on it and hasn't even had an oil change in over 100,000. My last 5.4 went over 300,000 with the same neglect. It's a Ford thing.

My 7.3 holds 15 qt. of oil.
A qt of oil is good for 1000 miles, so I change the oil, one time a year or 15000 miles, which ever one comes first. 210,000 miles on the motor. I am thinking about in the next year or so, doing a down to the frame rebuilt/replace/repaint, add flat bed/dual wheels. Should cost around $10,000 vs $50,000+ for a new one. |
