I'm taking her to the Engine Show in Wellington, Ohio on Thursday.  I want to be sure the battery is charged fully just in case, but I don't have a 6 volt charger.  She is 6 volt, positive ground.  Can I somehow use my 12 volt charger?  My charger doesn't have a 5/12 volt switch.

Kindest regards,

If you had two 6 volt batteries you could put them in series and charge two. You might be able to use a big headlight in series to use up some of the voltage and try to drop it down thru the battery... but in reality, NO , not a simple way.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

and yes you can charge a 6 volt battery with a 12 volt charger but i would do it away from the tractor just in case something sparks and causes a blown up batttery,

if i was using a 12 volt on a 6 volt battery i would put it in trickle charge mode 12 volt  and watch the water in the cells and when they get to a good buble i would stop the process
i like old tractors of all colors

Most modern 12 volt chargers will balk at charging a 6 volt battery with their shorted cell sensing circuit seeing 3 shorted cells. Old chargers will charge rapidly at higher current and probably fry the charger.

Now that you have a 6 volt tractor you need a charger with the 6 volt option, or to use a small lamp like a 6 volt quarter amp pilot light or dash light in series with the battery, then you will charge at that level of current and it will take days but you will have to watch it regularly to not overcharge it.

Why would you ever take a chance with hooking a 12V charger to a six volt Battery and HOPE it doesn't blow up?? WTF? Why not just purchase a new 6/12 volt charger? They aren't that much, and since you have the Tractor, it would be a good investment so you could charge either type Battery....
