Can anyone I.D. this drop spreader?

   We throw a ton of lime on the food plot every other year by hand.  Standing on a trailer flinging bags out the back being pulled by a Gator driven by an 8 year old with a twitchy throttle foot has run its course. 

Time to upgrade. Bit the bullet and bought this for $25. 

There is really old green paint on the body and yellow wheels so maybe (gulp) JD?

Funny how there is no braces from the tongue to each end, no levers or mechanisms whatsoever. Who knows how old this thing is, and what has been done to it over the years. 

The augers have been cut out of it. I was told they cut the augers out and used it as a feed trough for cattle. Good idea I suppose, you work with what you have, right?

So, I can resurrect this. Flipped it over, pried all the metal tabs up a smidge, and pulled the wheels. A little homebrew penetrant and a hammer took the slides out pretty easy. A little wire brush and some 90 weight and they went back in pretty good, and work very smoothly. Tightened the tabs back up so the slides don't flop around. 

Took it in the back yard, flipped it up, took the wheels back off, and took the remaining axle stubs out. These are direct drive. It looks like the shafts (about 1 1/4" diameter) ran from the wheels all the way to the center bearing. The center bearing is gone as well, but looks pretty easy to fab something up. 

Now to build some custom augers this winter....

	kinda sorta looks new ideaish, but need a look at the axle stubs, on the ends where the wheels go... Also, if it was a new idea EZ flow, pop a pic of the setting plate, its rather distinctive... Edited by DiyDave - 03 Dec 2016 at 9:08pm

	Found quite a few Ezee Flows on the internet, they usually have disconnects at the wheels? You can see the holes in the second picture, I would call them a square that tapers to a point? The wheels just go on the shaft that goes all the way to the middle of the spreader. And pin on to the shaft with a bolt. There is one piece of auger left on one of the stub shafts, the auger must have measured 6 3/4" or so at one time... Edited by littlemarv - 03 Dec 2016 at 9:24pm

	used one like it long time ago' was a M-M had like oliver green on box an off yellow on wheels' may be a stamp on the rims. maybe''?

	Now that you say that dawntreader, I think you hit the nail on the head. The yellow is off, and oliver green would be a perfect match. Don't see any stampings on the wheels. I never knew MM had green equipment. Any MM guys on here have any info? I'd like to see what this spreader originally looked like. This would be pretty easy to clean up and paint, it may just end up matching my WC next summer!

	looks more like a m-m or an oliver superior' the box looks some like the old ol'' superior grain drills wear'? i also have a nice steel wheel grain drill oliver superior 10 footer i would like to sell. we put 8 acres of beans in with it last spring.rope trip type works nice on the old WC 1945 war-time' even looks good on there

	I've never seen one like that one. we had a "Gandy" but it didn't look anything like yours! any lid on it? usually there were settings on a sticker inside the lid.

	I don't believe that it is a NewIdea spreader, those have diamond shaped holes in the slides. It does look similar to the JD one that I have that has corn kernel shaped holes in the slides. Although yours doesn't have the same type of lever arrangement to work the slide as a JD does, so it very well be something else.
	If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere. Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

	I fused with a EZE FLOW almost 20 years ago it the same shape whole in the bottom and a slid plate to block it. Put 50 ton of lime thru that poor thing. About 35 years ago put lot of 21-00-00 thru a JD one and it was real similar. I think maybe EZE FLOW built a lot that got somebody elses name and paint colors. But just another guess.
