There have been a number of posts about it being possible. A post said everything bolts up, but there is something different about the CA final drive castings vs B/C that causes a problem sliding them into the CA trans.

Has anyone on here DONE this conversion? If so, please share your experience. Thank you.

The B and C final drives bolt to the differential case with 4 studs. The pattern is perpendicular to the ground.. I believe the CA the bolt pattern is canted backward slightly. STill bolt up, but the wheel base ends up being a few inches longer. ......... also remember the CA uses a different hydraulic pump than the B / C ... not interchangable.... Change the pto case if you want the NEW PUMP ..... trans OK.

I guess if your trying to put B final drives on a CA, that should be OK... If you trying to put a CA transmission in a B, get the pto case / hydraulic pump also.

I am looking into a 4 speed B. I like the B's smaller size, but need higher road speed to join tractor drives (10mph req) and it makes driving to local shows (w/in 8mls of home) quicker.

I have swapped a CA trans into a C tractor myself. Customer needed higher raod speed for tractor drives. I raced my WD45 with the C after the 4-speed conversion and I barely went faster at stock throttle setting.

It is a direct interchange EXCEPT FOR THE DIFFERENTIAL BEARING CARRIERS!! The B/C axle housings are smaller on the ID where they bolt up to the transmisssion. You have 2 options: Grind the inside of axle housing out so they slide over the CA carriers, OR turn the OD of the CA bearing carriers down 1/8" so they are the same size as the B/C carriers and the axle will bolt on without interfering. Can't remember what I did for the PTO housing.

Also I think the seat rails and footbars are different widths, at least the CA foot is a bent angle vs the B/C square box. The difference in the slant of the CA final drives is all in the axle housing. The B/C PTO will go onto the CA transmission if you use the B/C sliding drive gear. Johnny Cash will be proud of you Big smile

My first CA had a B PTO on it, I think it was you Paul who pointed it out to me, that was 20+ years ago....thanks by the way.

13.6 will be a bit fast or step up to 14.9''s. Dad had 14.9's on his CA from the first time he tried discing plowed ground. They stayed on for 40 years anyway.

Tractor data says 1st gear for 'B', 2.5 MPH, 'CA', 2.0 MPH.

shows the CA as 2 mph in first and 11.2 mph in 4th.

some of that depends on what the final drive ratios are..

I thought I researched this before. Using the CA transmission and the B/C axles, you have faster speeds, than with the CA axles.

Isn’t 3rd gear on a C the same as 4th on a CA? Both direct drive?

Seems like the final drives might be a more fruitful approach.

4th in a CA is overdrive. The final drive ratio in a CA is slowest of the three the B is the fastest. The C is slower than a B by a slight bit.
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.

So by putting B finals on a CA 4 speed, you dont get much mph reduction ( if any) on the bottom end, but in 4th you would be FASTER than the CA ?
