Finally got the 1951 CA running today with help from a golfing buddy.  Made adjustments to timing, rocker arm/push rod gap, and the carburetor main jet needle.  It runs really good!

Does anyone know correct torque for the head and rocker arm bolts?

You started the engine before torqueing the head to the proper spec.

Not a good idea.

60lbs on the head. Do a Google search for Allis B head torque specs. It should show the tightening order also. Not sure about the rocker arms. I think I just snugged mine up. Oh and after you run it for a bit retorque.

Generally you run it up to full temp then let cool overnight and retorque cold.

The spec for torque and a tightening sequence diagram are on page CA-24, top of the right column, in the manual Gerald J. posted.

Good to have a golfing buddy who knows engines!  You should let him win a few rounds. How is the oil pressure? Check that oil is getting to the rocker arm assembly.

Ok Went back and looked at the video! I am still learning about posting videos. Good job getting the tractor running. Yes torque that head. Not sure what was causing the smoke? Oil pressure sounds like good number.

GREAT!!!  Always good for me to hear the B-C-CA engine run.  They are so dependable.
You might consider running the engine till hot.  Let cool.  Readjust the valve clearances.  We always did that.
As to the valve cover - and this is back in the day - 50's - we thoroughly cleaned the valve cover gasket area, cover and attachment area.  Put it upside down in a vice, attached the
gasket - we used shellac - I know there is better now, placed several heavy tools on the gasket to hold it in position, let sit for a while - 30 min.  Then attached to head.
Always had to be careful since there is a large span area.
Engine sounds so good.  Cannot tell you the memories it brings back.  Especially after an overhaul.
