I just finished an otherwise successful rebuild of the engine on my Ca, it starts great seems to run smooth and I took it up to operating temp. and re gapped the rockers.
Doesn't even "tick, tick" now . BUT! I've noticed a lot of oil dripping out of the bottom of the torque tube-block mating area. It's been dripping for some time since I shut it down, either from what was sprayed around the periphery of the torque tube/bellhousing or from oil above the rear crank seal seeping down. My question, for those of you who have waded through the post this far, is, does anyone have any experience with a more modern seal like a rubber "lip" seal on a speedi-sleeve? I figure I can machine the seal retainer to accomodate a CR seal to fit the speedi-sleeve but would like to know if anyone has had success with a similar approach. Steve, from the land of "you can't get that here".

You can get the seal reatainer from a D 10 thru D 15 and the lip seal seal the goes with it rather than machine the ole one. You can use a speedy sleeve or fill the sprial groove with JB Weld, sand it smooth and you will be good to go. I have the lip seal on a B and a C.

Thanks Dick, do you have a CR number for the lip seals you are using?
I'd just like to check the OD of the seal. I`d prolly be better of machining the B,C,CA retainers I have in inventory than trying to find a D10 - D15 retainer here in the AC poor area of Nova Scotia. Unless, of course, you have one to sell me.

When I need something like that I call Sandy Lake and they come up with what I need.
I do not have any here that are not in use. I got the last one off Ebay.

Can anyone tell me the AC part numbers for the rear crank seal and it's retainer for a D10 to D15 so I can inquire at a place like Sandy Lake and mention a specific reference?

It looks like your part number may be #70225805, rear crank seal. You can find most AC part numbers in the catalogs at Agcoparts.com
Just enter your tractor brand and model and you get all kinds of parts list. I chose the crankshaft list from the menu on the left and found your part. Please check youself to make sure that's the one you need. Good luck. ![]() |

Larry, I got where I wanted to go as a guest and I found " 70227572 seal, crankshaft, rear" for both D-10 and D-14 so I'm pretty sure thats what I want but I'm a little curious as to where you got 70225805.

Oh, I suspect I just copied the number incorrectly, or had the wrong tractor or something attributable to insufficient coffee this morning. Sorry.

OK, I see where I went astray. I was still thinking about the CA question posed at the beginning of the thread. I failed to make the mental transition to the D series question you posed. As I said, not enough coffee. That's better than admitting a "senior moment"! Good luck, Larry

No appologies necessary Larry, I got the info I needed, thanks to you all is golden.
Now to contend with my "senior moments" (which are edging toward hours LOL). Steve

Dick L, I can't find any contact info for Sandy Lake on here. Are they no longer a supporting member? I believe I heard they were no longer an AGCO dealership.
Do you (or anyone) have a contact?
