CA Hand Clutch lever problem

On my 1951 CA the bolt that holds the hand clutch on came out and the threads are all gone in part where the bolt threads into. I need help on how to fix this problem. Any help is appreciated, thanks Steve

I had the same problem, and a heli coil thread insert fixed it right up. The biggest trick is finding the right size drill bit, since you will be over the 1/2 inch size to put in the oversize threads to hold a heli coil. I couldn't find a bit, so I wallered the 1/2 inch bit around in the hole a little and the new thread tap was able to cut threads then. I am not recommending that step, but that is what I did out of desperation.
If it weren't for the last minute, I wouldn't get anything done!

I think it takes a 33/64's drill for that helicoil. HTH Tracy Martin
