    Posted: 07 May 2018 at 9:44pm
So....I switched the motor in a CA recently....all went well with that but I'm having clutch issues. I didn't get to drive the tractor before so I don't know what it was like then.
When I push the clutch forward I don't get any throw out bearing to pressure plate contact til about the last 3/4"...the rest is just slop before that. The maintenance manual doesn't explain really to well on what all the idividual bolts on the pressure plate fingers adjust.....? The clutch pedal rod itself has some adjustment where it screws into the throw out bearing fork linkage but not nearly enough.

Where do I go from here? When I push the clutch all the way down and barely let it out it just jerks forward very severely.
Thanks.

You can lengthen the clutch rod by removing it from the pedal and twisting it. If you can't lengthen it enough, the problem may be the adjustment of the ears on the pressure plate.

I looked into that too and it didn't look like there was nearly enough adjustment there. Can a person adjust the ears from the bottom one at a time?

Easy to make a new rod that is longer. If the rod is screwed in just 5/8" you can measure the amount of extra rod you need.   My one C is almost that bad but I have long legs and will might fix it if I ever get around to it.

Dicks rite. Have seen many that were cut and lengthened with a pipe/tube over the rod.

I split mine and fixed it the u shaped piece that is the clutch fork. the pin that the clutch rod attaches to wears oval shaped slots that originally were round holes. I've done two of them split the tractor take the clutch fork out and weld a short tube between the two legs it dosent go all the at across just to the point you can still put the keeper in. It dosent take much wear to create a lot of slop. When one hole wears throught the clutch won't work anymore. It's an easy 6 hour job to split the tractor weld it up and put it back together again. While you in there check the pressure plate adjustment the measurement is in the manual.

Steve
When I had to put a clutch in my B I bought the clutch pack , throw out bearing, and also replaced the worn out yoke and pin all from Tony’s Tractors. WOW I could not believe how smooth and easy it operated. It was worth the time to do it right!!!

Thank you all for the responses. I am the type of person that is going to do this the right way I think I have it figured out now. Maybe when I get into it again I will post pictures and add to this.
