I looked at a 1942 C yesterday and noticed the rear wheel centers were about 2 1/2 inches thick. I have a later model set and those are only about 1" thick. Does anyone know any detail on this? Thanks.

Can't tell from your picture, but probably a steel wheel center.

Check out this link, this is Bills C on steel. Notice the rear wheels, and the 4 notches. Normal versions only had 2.
