I have never had the hydraulics working of my C. I am going to dig into it and see what is wrong. BUT, before I start in on it, anything that I might be missing first? I don't have a gauge to see what kind of pressure it is putting out. I can't even tell if the pump is moving at all. What steps should I take? Anyone have any manuals or pics of what I should be looking at as to settings? Taking it apart and back together again? The PTO works, as I have a Woods mower on it that I use. Thanks, Ted

Click on Allis Store at the top of this page and look for the manual. It will be a big help. The first thing to check would be for sludge build up in the housing or a plugged pick-up tube. The manual I have talks about flushing the system out to clear any build up. The pump isn't too complicated once you read the manual and have it on a bench to work on. A good clean work area with an old towel on the bench helps keep things from getting lost. There are some check balls that may need replaced and reseated.

Ted, A change of oil and a very good cleaning may be your answer. If you still have the dam type gasket between the rear and the PTO Housing you can drain the oil from the PTO by the drain plug located there and remove the pump without draining all the oil.
Be sure the linkage moves and as Charlie says that the intake pipe is not clogged. We used to use kerosene to clean and diesel fuel to get the parts oiled and moving. Remember, it is a high pressure two cylinder pump - about 3000 psi. There are very few moving parts. The pressure is regulated by driving a valve down. Don't forget to use the right oil. When we sold them we used 20 wt non detergent oil. However, I have heard excellent reports on the newer oils that are used today. Frankly, we had very few problems with the pump. In fact, I cannot remember working on one in the shop. Let us know how it goes. Good Luck! Bill Long |

I had a plunger stuck in on 1 of my B pumps. It took a while to free it up. I had a extra plunger so I thought I would drill a hole and insert a screw to pull it out. Nope, too hard to drill. Once I got it loose it poped out. Bob

Thanks guys, I will let you know how it comes out. Hopefully it is just stuck. I forgot to mention that the first thing I did was to change the oil in it. ALL oils. I put in 20w Universal trans/Hyd./etc. fluid.

If you have a plunger stuck, you can tip the pump intake up and fill it with diesel fuel. Then lightly tap on the plunger. Maybe leave it set in a vise for a few days and give it a couple taps every time you walk buy. Unless the thing is rusted solid, it should loosen up with a little work.

Are the check balls still available? The hydraulics on my C has trouble lifting my plow up and will not hold it up if I step on the plow so I am thinking that it maybe leaking by somewhere internally in the pump. Wil
