What RPM should a 18" buzz saw turn at?

To cut wood a blade tip ( tooth) needs to run approx 150 feet per second...

18 inch is 4.7 feet around the outside ( circumference)

150 ft / 4.7 ft = 32 rev per second

32 x 60 =  1900 RPM

running a little faster cant hurt, .... figure 2000 RPM as a " good" speed.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

the 1900 rpm is for an older well used saw ( sawmill...).... a newer unit might run 2000 - 2400 rpm as the "sweet spot) ...... do NOT go to 3000 RPM on an 18 inch saw.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

OK, thanks. I have a handheld tach and will get it dialed in.

I used to run a 30" buzz saw on Dads old 35 wc. ran it half throttle and worked fine. ---- smaller blade would have to run faster.
