Where is the best place to buy bulk fuel tanks? I only need 100 gallon tanks gasoline and diesel. Gravity,or hand pump would work best, but not essential. Any help appreciated. Thanks Tracy Martin

Friend of mine suggested I check with a big truck salvage for the tanks off the over-the-road tractors. 100-150 gallon. Before scrap went up they were $150-$200. I should have bought then. Good luck

55 gallon barrel gets me by most of the time. Some times a 30 will do too. Personally I like the semi tank idea. I have never liked the flat bottom tanks. |

Might want to check with your local fuel company. around here they won't deliver less than 500 gallons of diesel or 250 gallons or gas.

your local craigslist should have quite a few. Take a flashlight to make sure how clean they look and how solid the bottoms are before you buy one. There is always quite a few gravity and truckbed type transfer tanks on craigslist around here.

If you plan on hauling it in your pickup, watch the capacity as over so many gallons it comes into transport tank and DOT rules come into play where you need placards, and CDL with has-mat and all sorts of rules ..
Should have markings on any portable tank also to comply with rules . Now if you mount it then rules are different.

Tracy, I ran into the same problem as Dakota Dave. Also if you don't use the gas fast enough, they stop deliveries. At the price of gas, they should deliver it 5 gal.s at a time and gift wrapped.

Tracy,
Get a fuel transfer tank for the back of a pickup and mount it securely it on a 2 wheel trailer. You can find these tanks cheap used, and for that matter they're not to bad new. You can go to town and pick up what you need yet avoid hassles of having a tank in the truck all the time. Aside from most jobbers not wanting to deliver small amounts of gas it is cheaper to buy it at the gas station. I usually get 200 to 250 gallons of gas when I have diesel delivered and it's about 2 or 3 cents more than I'd pay at the pump in town. Quite a price to pay for convenience. LOL

Delivery??? Local feed and gas ON the highway has trouble getting gas because they don't buy enough at a time ( tank size) for them to stop as they go by. Convenience store just down from them has the same issue with frito-lay. He has to meet the guy at the next stop to get supplies. I was looking into these tanks because I'm tired of barrels rusting out and was gonna do the trailer thing. Bought a D-15 LPG and I can fill that from the farm tank and they DO deliver. Pretty much cut my gasoline down to 5 gallon jugs. Better find a way to lock the trailer down and/or take the wheels off it to keep thieves from just taking the whole thing though.

Don't buy a used steel tank. They are ready to rust out then you have a problem. A new tank from tractor supply or any farm supply store cost less than the tank of fuel you loose when it springs a leak when you are not around. MACK
