Can anybody tell me the difference between the two?  We run 7200 through our international 435 bale and the gold always ran flawlessly, now all I see is the green in the stores and it seems like we are having knotter issues.

Cog, I use the Lincoln Twine from Farm&Fleet... 54.95 and rewards costumers is 49.99 today.
 Have had other brands of twine and they can get down to looking like round baler twine thickness while the Lincoln seems to run more consistency in their thickness.
I have used both the 9000 and 7200 and fall back to the 7200 because I didn't like the 9000 twine breaking some-where in the loading, unloading, stacking feeding process. Specially going on the elevator and falling off the mow conveyor.  And having the heavier twine, it doesn't cut into the fingers as bad when handling them without gloves.
 
 Never ran plastic twine for square baling, but have in round bales. Hate the stuff in the winter when bales stored outside get frozen into the bales and can't get them peeled off... and then find the stuff in the spreader beater when cleaning.

Our NH 273 square baler will run thistle or plastic and rarely misses a knot. The plastic is harder on the hands but usually have gloves on. Seams stronger and is less expensive. It all gets thrown away as we hand feed our cattle and place the twine in a feed bag to burn. Either will clog a sickle mower if it gets left on the ground accidentally. If we buy thistle it’s green at our local Co-op

LOL  Sisal rots down relatively fast where as plastic will take decades for it to degrade... if ever it does.
  Well to answer your confusion, I try to get all twines off, but if sisal doesn't come off because of being froze into the hay, I don't sweat it. But i will pound ice if it has plastic in it.

The plastic is good for tying electric fences when corralling animals around buildings for weed whacking.

Keep using the twine your knotters work best with.
You'll spend valuable time dialing in another brand/type.

Nothing like having a field of hay down, storm clouds on the horizon, and the knotters can't tie more thàn one in ten bales right. I learned all the cuss words as a kid around the balers.

Well, I hear lots of guys just plunk a bale in and get the twine later. Seems a terrible idea. Sisal rots down faster….yeah, so fast I’ve never bothered using IT for round bales. We had trouble years ago with sisal in the square baler. Nothing wrong with knotting, just crappy quality. It would be uneven thickness and we’d get surprise broken bales where it was thin. Switched to plastic long ago, not too much trouble with it.

I went from 9000 to 7200 this year. Like the 7200 a lot more. Not missing knots now. Our New Holland dealer didn't even have 9000 this year. The 7200 is Green for what it's worth.

I use the green in my old MF3, did good missed only one out of 111 last sat. I thought the green color was mice repellant ?? keith so.va.

All plastic here.  Round baler does net wrap and square baler likes plastic better too.

I switched to plastic twine 4 years ago after having trouble with sisal thickness being very inconsistent. Lots of broken bales & missed knots. I took back the unused twine and the dealer said try the plastic. The old New Holland hasn't missed a single knot in those 4 years.

Golden crest was the standard around here years ago maybe 25 years ago the green came around as a cheaper alternative we never used it in a square baler only round but it was very inconsistent and would break a lot of times on the round baler and we started using net on everything about 12 year ago and used plastic on the square about 35 years ago because of the rats and mice in straw

i use the gold in MF9. last year in 2nd cutting it miss very few times. now Saturday when i bale 1st cutting it miss every 7 or 8 bales it was a pain . so i'll see later on when we do 2nd cutting if there is a difference .

The last time my New Holland missed a tie was YEARS ago when a spring broke. It’s a very rare occurrence.

Couple years ago I was having troubles tying with my NH baler, spent what felt like hours of having knotter troubles and finally I decided to go home and get new twine. Didn't miss a knot from then on.  The old twine had gotten little damp on the bottom somewhere along the way and made it weak.  It didn't look bad. Tossed it in the round baler and used it up, worked okay there.
