Model 74 plow with tailwheel. The coverboards look like cultivator weed controllers. Should look good behind a D-17. Does your D-17 have a transport valve for the remote cylinder? |

As I'm often reminded on this sight, "Where your at determines what you can pull" I used to pull 6-16's with my 7060 and we pulled 5-16's with our XT. Other people would pull a bottom less or a bottom more depends on the soil. Some people talk about pulling 4 bottoms with a WD45 we can only pull 3 (if it's a SC) and others can only pull 2.

It will look good at the State Fair. We plowed alot of land with a 4-14 # 74 just like that with 3 different D-17s in some very tough black gumbo we used 361 bottoms less curve than the ones in the picture. The moldboards shape can make more difference than the number of bottoms, depending on the soil type. Don

Yep it has the transports valve. The way I look at it is my 4500lb d14 pulled 3-16s in good Iowa black sod so Im figuring the d17 can handle another bottom.

I will admit 4-16 behind a 7060 is a bit of overkill. The plow was bought when the 7000 was the big tractor of the fleet and now we have a retired gentleman that drives for us and he really doesn't relish the 7000 so he plows with the 7060 and since he plows better than us younger pups all are happy. We only plow a small portion of our ground but if we plowed more we would get an onland plow for the FW-30.
