Sitting here watching the Yanks play the White Sox at the Field of Dreams baseball field over by Dyersville Iowa. I wanted to go but ya had to be a rich guy to get tickets, and they apparently drew names for tickets. Great game, two run hommer in the top of the 9th to make it a 1 run game. First home run by a pro team to be hit into a cornfield, hit earlier in the game. Now just walked a Yank to put the tying run on first. Sox bat in the bottom of the ninth. Look out, Yanks just hit another 2 run homer to go ahead 8-7. Was hit with 2 outs. Sox just hit a 2 run homer in the bottom of the 9th to win it. Good game.

Daughter and grandson attended the game, lucky to get their chance drawn in the lottery of tickets. Once in a lifetime opportunity and the memories were priceless. Grandson exclaimed "IT'S IN THE CORN" with each home run.
Play by both teams really kept the game interesting. MLB says there will be a repeat of play at the field next year. |

Great game, gave a boost for baseball & Iowa. Cubs have commented they would like to play next year. I hope they do it again. In the meantime, I guess the stands, etc. are temporary and to be taken down. Apparently they had a storm come through and batter some of the corn. They zip tied it up with the help of 1100 rods.

I read that they didn't play on the original field of dreams. There was another field made on the same farm for the game. It was cool watching the players coming out of the corn onto the field. I hope they have different teams each time they play there. And I hope it doesn't turn into too commercial, with bigger stadium like facility.

A new field close to the original one was built by some part of MLB. It's close to the original field as shown by the drone shots. That field is still in use by youth/amateurs and I think the new field will be available for the same use-don't quote me on that. it would be a shame to spend all that $ and not have it be used. I hope the place is secure so some idiot doesn't trash it just because it's there.

Some idiot did drive through the original field and tore it up pretty good IIRC. Forget how long ago it was

Sounds like it was the most watched REGULAR season game in the last 15 years. They plan to do it again next year.. Thats what happens when you push National Pride, the flag and yes apple pie and hot dogs... When the game becomes "WOKE" people turn the CHIT off.

Great game. Watched the whole game on TV. 2 big, big city teams, the White Sox & the Yankees, both playing in the middle of the cornfields near Dyersville, IA. Wonder what those players thought?! Good experience for them! Coming out to the heartland to play MLB baseball! Wonderful!
