Not my crew but one of my guys. It happened while we were in CO. A six section scaffold fell over. They were putting net soffit and facia on the 4th floor of a hotel. One guy jumped and made it to the 3rd floor walk way. My friend Aaron rode it down. It fell across a service road and Aaron landed on a roof across that road. He has 2 fractures on L1 and L3. He has a severe spinal fluid leak. We’ll know more tomorrow. He’s going to a specialist. He could sure use some prayers.

Prayers from here. The fractures aren't too bad, but the fluid leak is more severe. May God hold him and the surgeons in His hands. God Bless.

Prayers from MI. Similar accident happened to my best friend from High School. "Only" fell 2 stories, but free fell and landed on a concrete parking curb. If the job site weren't literally across the road from the hospital he would not have made it! All the best to your guy Aaron.

Bob is right. The spinal fluid leak is the worst. In almost all cases it creates a tremendous head ache that has no control except laying flat on your back, and that doesn't always work. Tell him we're pulling for him. Leon

Steve we don’t know yet. It had wheels on it and was on flat ground. I talked to Aaron tonight and he didn’t see anything until it was on its way over. He had an angle grinder in his hand. The other guy was standing up holding on to the facia. He just had to hop off when it went over. There was a third guy on the hotel walk way. I figure someone was trying to roll it from up top and not the bottom. I have some opinions but I think it best to keep them to my self at this point. The Dr told Aaron he can go to work soon after July 4th. That was good news to me. He says thanks to each of you guys. |

I had a good long talk with Aaron last night. He’s kind of a doomsday prepper . He’s having a hard time missing work. He still can’t get around at all. I’m trying to get him to see only the bright side of this.
He goes in tomorrow for a Dr visit and to schedule physical therapy which can start in two weeks or so. |

I got to have lunch with Aaron yesterday. He’s now able to drive a short distance. He’s still very beat up and in a ugly metal back brace. His spirits seemed to be a little better. It’s easy to see he’s still in a lot of pain.

Hey Thad,,that right there is great news,,,!! Altho,,he's prolly heard this a dozen times,,,you tell him to keep his spirits up and look for the good cause it's HIS determination that will determine his future physical abilities. I don't like makin comparisons but my wife just does not like to go thru the pain with the therapy but ALL them therapists DO agree with ONE THING,,,,"if it ain't hurtin when you do therapy,,,it ain't doin no good" A little pain now is worth a future of gettin around like he used to. Tell him Good Luck from us.

X2 on what Joe said. "No pain, no gain." Tell Aaron to hang in there and do what the therapist says. Maybe he will get a pretty young lady that is practicing to be a drill sergeant.

Parachute failure in ‘83 left me with 3 lower vertebrae fractures. Leg aches were worse then the back pain but walking & therapy will do wonders. Tell him to use that brace exactly as instructed, get that therapy rolling and he’ll get back to good!

I wore a Iron corset back brace in the 70s when fell off a Freightliner COE and dislocated my back, BAD times with those evil designed medical appliances. Had contact sores where as I would need to pick stuff up would dig into skin and grind on boney spots. After 6 months tossed it in the trash and dealt with the pain of the back as the sores were killing me.
Good to hear he is doing better even with the incident. Keep informed on what caused the problem as do not need a repeat. |
