Can anyone here tell me the difference between the horse power ratings on the B230 gas engine verses the 262 gas engine?
I know the 262 is about 71 HP PTO rating and around 81 engine HP, but what is the engine HP on the B230 gas then? Someone said 40 HP, but I believe it's more than that, but can't find it anywhere. Thanks, Rick

rick, the B-230 gas engine was rated at 43 HP on the belt, now if you are thinking about the G-230 like used in the A Gleaner combine it was a little more HP I'm thinking around 47. Hope this helps.

3 WD45's with power steering,G,D15 fork lift,D19, W-Speed Patrol, "A" Gleaner with a 330 corn head,"66" combine,roto-baler, and lots of Snap Coupler implements to make them work for their keep.

Okay, thanks, Don...I just bought a good B230 complete and running condition and wondered what the HP was. Guess it wasn't what I thought it would be, but I got it complete...radiator, starter, generator and all for 200.00. Thanks ol' buddy! Rick

Gleaner literature I have from June 1962 rates the A-2 (G-230) engine at 76 flywheel HP and the C-2 (G-262) at 93 flywheel HP. Only makes sense, because the model E was rated at 63 flywheel HP in the early years. Not to confuse, but the G-262 used in the C-2 combine had a larger carb than the D-19 tractor did, which makes more HP.

Yes, I already knew about the carbs. on those two engines, since I've made those swaps before. However, I was referring to the difference between the B230 vs. the G262. Now that I know that there's a considerable
difference in engine HP, there's no reason to worry about putting it in a D19! LOL!

I have zero information on a B-230. I assume it's from the 1950's ??

I've heard of them before and was told today that it came out of a combine, which did have the framework they would normally have. I know the radiator is that of a combine as well as the clutch unit and pulley on the rear. Never said what model it came out of or much about it at all, other than it ran good and no smoke. It is loose. Rick

Isn't the B230 block basically the same block casting as the DB230 used in the WD45 diesel ?

The 45d sleeves has ringlands and the later 230 sleeves has a tapered od lands. We used to make at sealed power.

And I believe before A-C bought Buda, the Buda 6B-230 was a bored block..... The wet sleeve thing was an A-C enhancement to the Buda engine.
