I have a reprint of the Operating Instructions / Maintenance manual for my B and it says SAE 20 in the transmission and differentials and im thinking of doing a fluid change.
What do you all use? Would 10W-30 engine oil be good for it? I'm thinking probably don't want too thin though, right?
Thanks all... BenGiBoy

I use SAE 20 in mine, but I think most folks use universal hydraulic/transmission fluid.

I use universal hydraulic/trans fluid. If you B has hydraulics (not all did), I wouldn’t use 10w30 motor oil.

I use 8 quarts of UTF in the trans / hydraulic/ bevel gear box , and 80-90 gear lube in the final drive drop box pan on each side.. Takes less than a quart on each side.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

keep in mind that SAE 20 weight, if i'm not mistaken is non-detergent

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

When we sold them newin the 30's to 50's we used NON DETERGENT SAE 20 wt oil. It worked fine. However, I have heard good reports on the UTF type oils.
In the final drives we used 140 but again there are better lubricants out there now. Take good care of my favorite. Good Luck! Bill Long

Just don't use a Detergent Oil in the Hydraulic. Apparently it will foam up. Gary |

That makes sense, hydraulic oil probably has anti-foam agents or something in it.
