Question on radiator replacement for a 1950 B.
The unit I have on there now is an unpressurized version. Some of the ads I've seen for replacements make a point of saying they're pressurized and need to run a different cap, some don't say at all. Is the non-pressurized version no longer available? Is one better than the other? Are there any issues switching from one version to the other beyond the different cap?

Mr Bill, If you put a 7lb cap on yours, it will be pressurized. I don't know of any difference than a spring loaded cap.

Planning on replacing the radiator because it's leaking at multiple places through what looks like some old repairs. Just was curious as to if there were two different versions of the replacement part.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the non pressurized units had a different neck on them that was similar to the gas cap hole and took the non pressurized cap. I thought the pressurized radiators had a different neck on them. I have a spare non pressurized one here in good shape, but the side tin piece needs to be rebrazed onto it. The core is in good shape though.

Well Chuck I guess I can still learn. I'll have to compare radiators now when I see a tractor. I suppose the ones that weren't pressurized might not have the flat area inside the neck for the pressure cap to seat.

Bill,
Chuck is absolutely correct. The unpressurized is just a straight neck. The pressurized radiator has a flange in the neck. If memory serves me correct you would want to add a 4lb pressurized cap to that. Depends on the year and if you have a thermostat would determine if the system is pressurized.
