We were watching a PBS show this evening called North Carolina Weekend that did a piece about Discovery Place Kids in Huntersville, NC.  I was pretty sure I spotted a B in the background of one scene.  I did a little Googling and found this article with a photo that confirmed it...

Looks like they made some kind of guard to keep kids from falling through or falling forward.  I'm kind of amazed they even allow kids to be on something they can fall off, this being such a lawyered up country.

What a great place for the Forum Built Build-a-B to spend the rest of its life. Placing it in this type of museum gets my vote.
Thanks Murph for bringing this interesting bit of information to the forum.

That's a great idea for the Build-a-B.  Here's a link to the story on this tractor and the folks that owned and donated it... http://www.discoveryplacekids.org/blog/post/13/We-Are-Plowing-Ahead

Bump
Build a B Project.  How many would like to see the "B We Built" spend the rest of its days in a "Museum for Kids to learn"?    I can't think of a better future home for our B. Fred PA liked the idea too.

I would support that.

I got to see the B in the children's museum in Huntersville, NC in person this morning... my youngest child's class took a field trip there today (they didn't have to twist my arm very hard to get me to go since I knew I'd get to see some AC orange).  It's a really straight, later model B.  Someone did some really neat fab work on the pieces they used to make it more kid-friendly.  I'll try to post some photos later.

I like the idea. My '44 WC goes to a friends apple orchard every August as a display for kids and "big kids" to climb on it and take pix. We put up a sign with the history of the tractor and a picture of the original owner using it to pull/power an all crop. Bob@allisdowneast
I used to think I was indecisive, but now I'm not sure.

If we choose the museum option, I have just the museum. I know for a fact they would take great care of it and it would be seen by many kids that would learn lots from it. I have many memories in the museum myself. Heres a link to the museum in question:

The museum is located right next to the Landis Valley Farm Museum, for those of you who are familiar with Lancaster County. I think it's a great little tie to the agriculture next door that they would be very proud of to present to the kids. Before they moved from their previous location they started a small Agricultural room, but I grew up and haven't really been to the new location that many times. If we choose to do this I can investigate it further.

I think the guys started a more in-depth discussion of how to handle the Build-a-B in another thread. No problem discussing it here, but I just thought I'd let you know in case you hadn't seen it...
