Went to an auction down here yesterday. Beautiful weather and a huge crowd. Had a g, older restoration, not running for $1900 and a u on factory rear rubber and front cut downs. Motor was stuck. Bought $1200 or $1250. If I wasn't neck deep in projects I would have been very tempted by both. Had some rear steel that would have fit a wc but wasn't the usual style. I should have bought it at $150. Had what was left of c for $275? Had front cut downs and a few useable parts, but thought it was high. Also had quite a few manuals I was interested in but would have had to wait around another 3 hours or so and I was tired and hungry!

Sounds like you did OK..got some fresh air and it didn't cost you a trip to the doghouse ! I gave up going to auctions up here.By the time you add on 'buyers fees','other stuff' then add 13% sales taxes it add 30-50% MORE than the 'sold' price.I sure wouldn't have paid 1900 for a 'restored' but NON running G and I've owned 3 of them.

Ouch! Im doing some math. Is your buyers fee near 20-35%? Most farm equipment auctions are still no buyers fee & no tax around here.

Here's just one example....
$100 item SOLD....
15% buyers preminum is $15
so far $115
$5 'paperwork' charge
now $120
5% credit card fee $6
now $126
13% taxes[HST, fed+prov] is $16.38
now $142.38

Nice huh !!!
so your $100 'treasure' costs you $150 !! I added a bit of gas money,maybe a coffee..

Jay
