I have acquired a Allis B with an Arts Way mower deck 5 foot belly mower on it. It had a burnt valve, so I had to wait till I got a valve job on it before I could try it out.
Well I finally got to try it out this week, and on the first lap the drive belt from the PTO to the deck broke, it had been cracked very badly and was an A series belt, wrong width, so I figured it wouldn’t last long, and it didn’t. When it broke it got tangled up in the deck pulleys and cut into several pieces, like I said the belt was in bad shape. Anyway, I was wandering if anyone knew the correct belt sizes for this mower? I’m pretty sure it’s an Arts Way, probably spelled wrong, 5 foot deck. That takes 3 belts. Mainly interested in the main drive belt size or part numbers, but would be nice to have all 3 belt part numbers. I’m pretty positive it’s an Arts Way deck, based on pictures from internet, but not positive. I know it’s not a Woods, because I’ve had them before and they were different than this one. This one looks almost new, just need a drive belt for now. Does anyone know what sizes or part number belt this deck would take? Also where is a good place to buy a good belt at? It’s mowing season and I need to get it fixed, I know I’ll have to order one so I’d like to get it correct the first time. Thanks for any help, I appreciate it. |

I don't know if it will help you but I restored a model 77 rake, it needed a belt, I was able to measure the length, width and thickness, on a whim I stopped at a NAPA store, they had it in stock at their Cape Girardeau store,I had it the next morning.you may also check with Grainger, at any rate unless you have either the belt number or accurate model number of the mower your going to need the measurements

Thanks for that link, I didn’t even think about the possibility that the company was still in business. I figured they went out 40 years ago, but I’m glad they didn’t, just hope they still have info on real old stuff like this deck.
Thanks for the help, I’ll call them tomorrow. |
