like most folks in the South, we grew up with guns around, my Dad was in two wars, he taught us early how to shoot, and even more so about gun safety, there was always one in the field truck, or someone on a tractor had one with them, we always had snakes around the lake and in the garden and hay fields. I don’t remember how young I was when I got my first single shot .22, in high school, I was given my first pistol. Mostly I always kept one in the vehicles, when I became parts manager at a large Ford dealer in a delightful part of Atlanta, and made nightly cash drops at the bank in the evenings, I got my concealed permit and carried all the time. I have never carried in the open, my Dad raised us that it should never be in sight until it is about to be used, I’ve always felt that carrying one open makes you a target and draws unnecessary attention. I hope and pray I am never put in the position, but if need be, I am willing to protect my family and myself.
I respect those who don’t want one, it’s their right, just like it’s mine to have them.

Joe, I was raised basically the same way. Guns were a part of everyday life. I got my carry permit when I was 18 and have had one ever since. Thankfully I have never had to fire a round at a person but Grandpa's S&W .44spl kept me from getting robbed or worse between Eatonton and Greensboro many years ago. And I WILL use one to protect my family, my friends or myself. In Atlanta now you need at least 2 guns and body armor.

I never understood the reason for people to carry or why they would want to until the break-in we had a couple of months ago. That's the first time I was every caught in a situation without a weapon but it won't happen again. They're have always been a couple of shotguns and a couple of pistols in the closet but now there's one in the truck to. I felt a little strange with it in there to start with but now I'm ok with it. Danielle and my father in law know the gun is there but the girls don't. I don't want them to get curious until I feel they're old enough to handle it. They're not strong enough to pull the slide yet and have been told to not handle a gun without a parent but I know kids are curious. I sure was.

Smart move in my opinion. Even if you / she should change your mind some day it’s same as cash. You can get your money back at any time.
