A 43 is a small single stack carry gun. It would be very reliable.
They make a similar model that’s just a bit bigger and double stack but not quite as easy to Carry/conceal.

go for the 43x, a little bigger but fits a mans hand better.  Big difference in the feel.

I looked at a few Glocks before I bought my S&W. What I noticed was when I drew to aim I would have to tip the barrel up a fair amount (1/4" or so) to find the front sight. Just couldn't see it when I held the gun and it felt comfortable. May just be me but it wasn't my thing.

S&W M&P is my pick as well.

Glock frames do not ever 'Feel Right' to my hands, a Browning Hi Power or 1911 frame, even the old Luger patterns as the Ruger Mark 2 22's feel correct to the wrist.

you looking for a carry or a house gun?

Our house gun in 9 mm is a Sig Sauer  938.  Totally satisfied with it.

I prefer the 380 for CC.  Our model there is the S&W Bodyguard.

So what usage you have planned?

I bought the S&W Bodyguard to carry as well. Don’t think it would be very effective over 50ft. Worse trigger I have ever squeezed! Very nice small firearm and I do like the safety. Has anyone reworked the trigger on these? Mine measures about 12lbs and 1” of pull.

that's why I still carry my S&W model 39, my hands are small, and as I get older and my arthritis in my hands gets worse I don't I just don't have the grip for these staggered magazines with the wide grips they sell today. I looked at the Bodyguard, but it killed my finger with that trigger pull

The Body Guard's brother, the ruger 380 now has an improved version that is striker fired which is a huge improvement over the double action only autos.

The G43 is a great summer carry/stash piece, however I have not been able to be accurate more than 25 yards with it. It will feed near about anything you run through it. They were worth about 350 "decently used" before the coronavirus.

Dave...it'll prolly be a gun for the old lady....ooooops....i mean the loving wife...when i ain't home. she'll have to practice with it, she's a real GOOD shot with the .38 Special we have. but with the hurts in her hands this gun is alot lighter. i'm also hoping it'll set off my tannerite better than a dif gun i use now. anyone know what a fair price would be? the one i'm looking at comes with: padded carry case, 2-magazines, 1-speed loader, a lock, cleaning kit, operators manual, box of 50 hollow points, and something else in there i'm not sure what it is. the dude wants $500.

Glock 43 is a reliable carry gun. Personally I prefer a Glock 17 or 19 because I have big hands. Glock's work! I also have a Glock 20 in 10mm. in case a bear breaks in!

I would buy it in a heart beat, that a good price in my opinion, I paid 420 for a used CZ P10 and only got a second mag with it, bought the wife a S&W M&P9 Shield EZ M2.0 because she could rake it with easy she has arthritis in her hands, it came with two mag and a laser, it was a new weapon and paid 569 for it.

Shameless, i just checked the website for the best priced guns in Ohio (Vance Outdoors) and their cheapest model of the 43 is at 499.99 (but out of stock as are most dealers), so I would say if you're interested, grab it before its gone.   I recently bought a 43x, basically the same gun but a bit bigger of a grip.

If you’re seriously looking for a carry for her I’d be on that deal like a hippie on a tax payers dime.
If things clear, there will be some good deals to be had but who know how long that will take if ever.
Search out ammo and see what’s available in your area. I still find it here regularly but priced way high.

Spousal unit was commenting on the Congresswomen from CO who arrived in DC with plans to be packing. She thought it was over the top stupid. Taken aback when informed that she would be shocked if she knew how many people she passed in daily life were.

Having said that, I do not. Thinking back in time, I've never once been in a situation where it would have been needed. But the same could be said for life insurance. Never needed that either, but would come in handy some day if I did.

But for those that do, was there an incident that prompted you to start?  Or when it came in handy?

Also, I think I know where I could get my hands on a S&W M&P in .357 Sig. Not mine.....but would be available for use if I wanted to. If I had guns that is.

How is that going to compare to a 9mm. Just mention of .357 brings up visions of the big revolvers, which this ain't.

Also, once upon a time I had visions of getting a Berreta M9, or civilian equivalent. Not a carry weapon, but I don't carry. I've shot one and it seemed pretty sweet. Easy to handle and pretty accurate if you knew what you were doing.

we used to go in one of the open 24 hr gas stations for coffee at 0400 AM, one of the dudes that sit with us always carrys his 9MM, can see it on his side in plain veiw. i'm pretty sure that that thwarted a robbery one morning, 3 dudes no one knew walked in, walked around the store, one was stuffing items in his sweatshirt, he looked our way as we were just about to call him on his shoplifting spree and the look on his face was priceless when he saw that 9MM on my buddies belt. he started shoving his non purchases back on shelves, then hollared for the others saying let's go! one was just walking up to the clerk with nothing in his hands. they left and when outside the shoplifter was flapping his lips to the others and pointing back towards us. they were never seen again. there are several business's in our town that the employees open carry, and i do agree with that...hopefully it'll keep robberies and people getting shot/killed down. i read somewhere that TX passed a law bill that people there could conceal carry. they also said crime went down a big percentage like 85% or so. that tells you something! you never know who might have a weapon on them, maybe a bigger one that you have?

That is a fair price on a 43. BUY IT! Good guns are going to be in short supply for at least a few years. I don't have any guns but I like the Glocks. The 43 is small enough to conceal and the 9mm packs a decent punch. If you are going to use it, invest in a few extended magazines for a better grip. It works well with a pocket holster and VersaCarry makes a nice OWB for it also and it is not expensive especially if you find it on sale.
Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God.

like most folks in the South, we grew up with guns around, my Dad was in two wars, he taught us early how to shoot, and even more so about gun safety, there was always one in the field truck, or someone on a tractor had one with them, we always had snakes around the lake and in the garden and hay fields. I don’t remember how young I was when I got my first single shot .22, in high school, I was given my first pistol. Mostly I always kept one in the vehicles, when I became parts manager at a large Ford dealer in a delightful part of Atlanta, and made nightly cash drops at the bank in the evenings, I got my concealed permit and carried all the time. I have never carried in the open, my Dad raised us that it should never be in sight until it is about to be used, I’ve always felt that carrying one open makes you a target and draws unnecessary attention. I hope and pray I am never put in the position, but if need be, I am willing to protect my family and myself.
I respect those who don’t want one, it’s their right, just like it’s mine to have them.

I don't object to the concept, just never had a reason to personally. Owner of the 357 sig worked at Walmart at night stocking shelves. Co-worker went to McDonalds at 2AM and when they came back, was mugged and murdered in the parking lot of Walmart. So owner started packing, and I would have too.

As for home protection, if I owned guns, I would be more comfortable with a 12 gauge loaded with 00 buck.

When I was 16, I remember getting sent to a neighbor's house to tend livestock and to sleep in the house as security guard at night while they were on vacation. Was instructed to take my gun  (one I no longer own) and if any varmints came around at night, shoot em. Varmints come in all shapes and sizes. Lucky for varmints, and me, I never had to. But the chance that there would be somebody in that house was not much of a deterrent. The chance there was somebody in that house that could and would blow them into next week was. You could always call the sheriff, but when seconds count, sheriff was only 20 minutes away. That concept seems as valid today as every.

Also been my observation that trouble keeps vampire hours. Trouble is mostly asleep during daylight hours when I'm usually out and about. Been in a few rough places in the bigger towns....places I wouldn't dare enter after dark....unless I was packing heavy.

I found one of those  shotguns made outta scrap that we sent to the big C.  It bears the name "SavagE", 12 Ga, Pump, Extended mag, short barrel in the Air Force exchange for $200 out the door.

I have never shot it but the grand son ran a box thru it most ricky tick.

Now that baby sits comfortably behind an open door in the house as a replacement for the aluminum ball bat that used to be there.
