.
Serial number is on the back of the rear end casting, left side, Starts with "WD" then number. Look up on tractordata dot com for build sequence. That's the easiest source I found before when I was looking. WD I have, bought three years ago, was built within two weeks of the one on the farm growing up. Post some pictures of the tractor and condition you are starting with. . Edited by jvin248 - 12 Jul 2025 at 9:39am |

If you could get it over here I could probably do it… only a 8.5 hour road trip….
Would love to do another WD. But that would be a long road trip. |

here are 2 images I just took. The first is a number I found between the transmission and the metal box to contain the battery. If this is the serial number it makes it a 1955 wd45, is that correct. The sticker/ label on the front only says WD. uploads/25750/image0.jpeg

That is a casting number. The serial number is stamped into a flat pad on the vertical surface of the rear housing above the lift arm crossbar. Sometimes you have to scrape a bit to make the number readable.

Late 1952 or 53 curved stick "WD" not a "WD-45".

that’s what I always thought which is why that number confused me. I’ll go back out to the barn and see if I can find the number again

Just above the lift arm shaft on the LEFT side close to the square headed setscrew for the left brake. WDxxxxxx.........should be 127000 or newer.

Need an electric wire brush to get rid of all the rust and barnacles. It is stamped and has to be clean to see it.

bit of a long story but last time I started it it ran but could only get it into reverse. It had been kept in barn its whole life that my grandfather built for it. Then in 2016 we had a 22” wet snow event and the roof collapsed. There is a slight dent in the fuel tank from that but no other major visible damage. Problem then was, didn’t have anywhere to put it so it sat outside while I had barn demo’ed and new barn built but that took about 8 months. I traveled a lot for work so it has just sat there. Battery is cashed and the fuel leaks as soon as I open butterfly valve. Tires also need to be replaced. I have it up on blocks at the moment. Tires are at least 40 years old. So it has not run since 2017. I’m now retired and would like to give it life again.

I'm not near my tractor but it looks like (in the book) the serial number is just ABOVE that square headed setscrew.
