I know it takes oil pressure to release/disengage the FWA clutch which is in the front axle I think. So, whenever the engine is OFF, it is in 4-wheel drive. It is in 4-wheel drive whenever you hit both brake pedals at the same time for 4-wheel braking. So what I'm saying is no electrical power to the front axle and it should be locked in.

Be aware the 6175, the other 6100 series, and their orange cousins the 9600 AGCO tractors all shared some common failure items. I was with an AGCO dealership when they were sold new so I got pretty familiar with some of them. The PFA, as they call it, was definitely one of them. At some point in production AGCO recognized an issue there and did a quiet update on the clutch assembly with larger bearings in the area that supports the clutch assembly in its housing. A failure in that bearing area can affect the sealing rings that help direct hydraulic oil flow to disengage the front wheel drive clutch pack.

Should you actually get that deep into it, be aware of the change as AGCO didn't actually publicize it at the time. We just replaced them on an as needed basis. I would imagine by now any replacement parts available would be the larger bearings, shaft and housing required, but still, you never know. I haven't been into one in years, so I don't have any idea of the current parts availability.
