I believe it's an Oliver 60. 4 cylinder engine. The 70 was a 6 banger.

actuaally,,,,leon,,,I didn't tell the whole troot,,,,,and Ya caught me at it,,,,, ,,,I saw this the last time we went to Lubbock,,but was already late for appointment and then comin back,, it was already dark,,!! This would make a good project if they don't want an arm and a leg,,,I didn't get it in the pic, but there wasn't a can on exhaust pipe so,,,,,,??? The tin was in pretty good shape except for one caw'ner of the grill,,rest of grill was perfect,,, Looks like they had rigged a belt driven pump for maybe hydraulics,,,??I didn't look that close but I thought it was a 6 cylinder but it did look like the whole engine compartment was FULL,,,, Anybody got any thoughts on it's value,,,or is it wishful thinkin,,,??? I kinda like this as you could have you some green and still stay on ole Shameless's good side,,,,, ![]() ![]() |

Joe you would have to find out if the motor will turn over as you know a motor job is time and money. And check out that shift pattern before you get too in love. The Oliver I looked at was alot bigger but it had a funky shift pattern. Might not be a big deal as you are not actually planning on spending days on end farming with it. Alot of people seem to love them I haven't ever driven an Oliver so I can't really say. The one I looked at has a blow motor and they wanted big bucks for it.

Wow Joe must be just waiting for the bank to open up probably sitting in the parking lot like a kid waiting for the candy store to open.....
On edit Well I guess I was wrong I see as soon as I posted Joe is only willing to pay a stranger for a project. How weird.... must be he has a case of Volcan logic. (Green blood lust) maybe Les should wave that photo of the 60 infront of him a little.... Edited by Dan73 - 24 Oct 2016 at 4:05am |

So Joe does suffer from Volcan tractor bite. You know that is fatal to your check book? Shameless you better go double check all them barrier cans of cash I think a few of them must have been washed out of your fields already with that new green farmer and somehow found their way down to old joe. I know he wouldn't have taken that nice new backhoe up there and been digging on his own...

Joe the name pretty much tells the story as to where they go... Oliver was one of them companies which either didn't like the looks of a motor or their stuff didn't break.. cause the missing covers go on the sides of the tractor from the hood all the way down over that lower ridge hiding the entire motor. Guess they weren't too worried about cooling it off or not too proud of how the motor looks... probably a tractor for a better class of people. Ironically my case 5240 has covers just like that and just like that tractor in the photo I took them off to check the oil or something and they didn't find their way back on...
