This is the first crawler I've ever stuck. It was stupid on my part and should have known better.
One of the ponds went dry again this year so i went west and got the HD11EP from our family ranch in western Oklahoma.
The muck looked dry on top and was about 10" down. We started at the edges and stayed on solid shale shaving about a foot at a time off. I had been across it once already but not near an edge that we had already cut out.
I backed onto the silt and i felt the tractor lean foward as the side that i had been cutting on blew out from the weight of the 11. I imediatly stopped and tried to go foward but it was already sitting on the belly pan. We had it out in about 30min with the help of our small excavator. Just sitting there the tractor was sinking. I've always been told to not let one idle stuck in the mud as it will work its self deeper and the suction will get worse from engine vibration.
All in all the deepest the silt was in the middle was about 7'.
