This pic was supposed to load first.  Anyway you should be able to figure it out.  If I take the snap hitch off, I can lower and raise it.

so...  you have a running CA and a garden... and you get to make stuff, too?
sounds like too much fun in one place, to me.
keep it up, I won't turn you in to the fun police.  Wink
3 Ford 8N's I loan to neighbors, but the '52CA, '41B and little B1 I do not.

Guilty on all counts. I am a little different than most folks in this group.  I have never owned an allis and it was never a tractor I had even ridden on in my youth.  I had been supplying a couple of restuarants out of my 5000sq ft garden, which I worked with a spade and a troybuilt tiller. I do like old tractors though, and when I told my wife I wanted to expand my garden to help feed the poor of KC, she thought getting a tractor was a good thing to do. Tricky, aren't I.   The way my garden is set up, i needed a tractor with a lift that I could back down the rows. My tractor of choice would have been an Oliver 550, but didn't want to spend that kind of money. Around here the VAC Case is the absolute cheapest tractor you can get with a lift.  I think they are a cute tractor. Getting on and off is a lot easier than the Allis.  But when this tractor came up, so close by, I bought it.  I have come to learn it is considered Allis's best tractor of the era by many.  It Can pull more than the VAC, fits the garage better, and has a road gear.  Leaks like the Titanic, but that will be fixed in good time. One thing I have known for a long time, is Allis engineers did not have the same thought processes as anyone else  (all-crop, roto bailer, and hay mower) I wonder if anyone even knows what all the holes are for on these tractors.   Now I have a tractor AND a garage refrigerator as old as I am.

interesting parallels -
I have:
no farming background, but some food gardening experience.
a supportive wife, who found and suggested my first tractor on craigslist (the CA)
a 1950's functional refrigerator (washing machine, too!)
a love of building job specific tools using materials at hand.

as I'm sure you realize, there are quite a few very knowledgeable and experienced people on here who are quite generous at sharing their expertise.
especially about (but not limited to) orange tractors.
3 Ford 8N's I loan to neighbors, but the '52CA, '41B and little B1 I do not.

Oh yes, the best thing about these sites is everybody is so helpful because they have all been in the same boat over some issue.  When dealing with equipment as old or older than we are, there is always something that pops up techs who wrote the manuals never thought off.  I did grow up on a farm though, but never got to drive an Allis.  Dad did have a WC but it was gone by the time I was able to ride.  Had green after that, John Deere and Oliver.
