I purchased a model 17 Allis-Chalmers two row mounted corn picker a while back and I was told it would fit on a WD45 but I know for sure it was made to fit the D17. Will this picker fit my WD45 or should I look for a D17 to mount it on?

It may fit BUT will it work would be my question. I would go for the D-17 if it were me.
also would the offset seat be a problem on the wd-45? just askin!

If you have the brackets it will fit.   In heavy corn you will wish you had the 2 speed power director like a D17 has. I had a 227 JD picker on my 45 several times. The offset seat was no problem, but I had a gear for a 60 JD on the PTO shaft. It needed a smaller gear to speed up the picker, 45's travel faster than the picker could handle the corn.     Have fun with your picker.

I think there was a kit to move the steering wheel over to allow using center-based pickers.
