Found this on youtube. That is just one big heavy piece of iron. Sounds like solid as a rock.
Does someone have more movies from an L or S crawler? Would love to see them. [TUBE]_3Vo5Lx4VZ0[/TUBE]

Yeh Randy, but only for an hour or so til the rain hit. It was sandy dirt, but was pulling like clay with all the plows needing scoured! Just rubbing SOME of the rust off won't work. And everybody was thinking the sand would shine everything up in one or two passes. I guess Ive plowed too much in the past. hee hee! The only one who plowed much was Steve Shide, and he came scoured and already adjusted to plow. He probably plowed a couple of acres by himself on another headland. The rest had trouble of one kind or another. Oh well, it was still fun! I din't take a plow 'cause I had a religious meeting at Frankfort at 3 and had to leave kinda early. Next time I'll load up Uncle Morris and my no. 2 and show them boys how to turn dirt. another hee hee! (Uncle Morris-- 49 WD, grease, oil drips, and bird poop and all)

Uncle Morris sounds like my 45. No paint sept what is left under the dirt on the block (and what I sparyed on the front shroud when I had it off), Oil seeps from underneath but runs GREAT and Always starts. I guess I need a name for it????????? Oh and my plow has been scoured up for almost 30 years. Just paint it with slip plate when I'm done, not the next day either. Get the dirt off and cover the bare metal with paint or sompin.

Boy that's right Charlie! The quickest way for me to get an attittude adjustment was to not oil the "boards" everynight, and then wirebrush and paint grease on them before putting them in the shed for the winter.
Uncle Morris was my surrogate father after mine died and was a godd teacher. Too bad he didn't have a good student, LOL
My boy and I call that WD by that name because he bought it new when I was 8 yrs old and I remember getting off the bus and seeiing it all shiny and pretty in the barnyard. We overhauled it(in frame) when I got out of the Army in 65, and I know for a fact anytime I want to handcrank it, a half turn w full choke, another, maaaaybe two at half choke and it will be running. It's fun taking him to the fair with all the shiny rides and doing that! Never fails for someone to say "gees, I cant believe that"! (I know it's cheap fun, but you gotta have fun somewhere!)

Mark; is that L O imported to England by that collector or was it sold new to the UK? What kind of engine does it have? I know the M has an U engine and the K has een A engine.

Johan it is a 6 cylinder spark ignition semi diesel(hessellman system), that tractor as far as i am aware came from Tolouse in France the motor was frozen and brazed back together.I found a l 90 power unit for the collector and he put that into the crawler,it was not a very sucessfull design as the plugs oiled up if not run hot enough or run wide open i have seen this tractor in person and the collector has the set K O, S O & L O all running order.
