I am looking to rebuild the starter and generator for my G. I found some rebuild kits for the generator but none for a G. But i did find some for a CA and B. Would those models have the same starters? The service manuals are not much help with these parts.

Bench testing the starter it spins like a top. But put it back on the tractor and it can only make a half a revolution. Currently I am hand cranking it, which isnt too bad but the crank handle got stuck one time and now it scares the crap out of me.

I found the G starter rebuild kit at Steiner, had bushings and brushes.  DJS might have them but I couldn't find them.  As for the drive, I didn't look for one of them.

I couldn't say for sure but I would think being a different motor it would be a different starter. Allis built versus Continental

Thanks for the responses. I’ve seen the brush kits on Steiner but I am looking for a complete rebuild kit. I’ve been talking to a guy on eBay with a store name of S-And-D-repair. This guy seems to have a boat load of rebuilds for starters and generators for delco remy early years. In messaging with him he put me together a kit for the generator per my serial number. For the starter he had a kit last Monday with the armature but as of this morning he has a kit but no armature or brass bushing and said it was discontinued and can’t get it anymore. So now I’m on the hunt for the starter armature.

Steve has a source for rewinding armatures.  Stock or custom rewinds.  He rebuilt the starter for my hi compression WD engine with a custom armature, and that starter spins that engine over like it's on  12 volt, although I'm still using the stock 6 volt systems on all my fleet.
