Well i am back on the Allis G engine and finally completely took the engine apart.

the pistons stand above the block at least .064 i measure this with a feeler gauge.
I think the pistons are hitting the head causing a knocking noise.
Question is there anything i can do with this block?

I have extra block laying around and notice those pistons only stand out just above the block.

I had this problem with my WD45 Diesel. I took the pistons to the engine machineist and had them machine .020 off the head of the piston and the knock went away. This made me vary happy since i was trying to figure out  what was makeing the knock for 2 years.                                Matt

Perhaps a "poor boy" fix is stacking 2 head gaskets? I would definitely copper coat, or light application of lithium grease between them if going this route. Kip
