Allis Chalmers wagon running gear

Looking at an A/C gear that has 6 bolt hubs, no welds, and steering is very tight. Would this be a 6 ton gear/ Any ideas as to value? Thanks

Like diyDave said, check it’s rear axle ID tag. It’s serial number will begin with either number “6”, or “7”, or “8” which denotes whether it’s one of the following;
“6” (6ton)= 601,
“6” (61/2ton)= 605.
“7” (7ton)= 700(early),701(later).
“8” (8ton)= 800.
All have 6 bolt hubs. Below is an ID photo for 700 or 701. In addition to ID serial number, look for stenciled model number “700” or “701” on outer side frames.



Value? Need more details. Depends on condition. You say steering is tight? Is it rusted tight(usual slop) or not worn out(few like this)? Any bent rear spindles? Bent or twisted hitch? Is adjustable reach pipe straight or bent? Have standard/extendable hitch? tires? And lastly, who’s all interested.

Just curious - what model was it? Did you get it? If so, any photos &/or stories to share?
