Allis Chalmers threshers

Does anyone know if Allis Chalmers, after purchasing Advance Rumely in 1931, marketed the Advance Rumely threshers under the name of Allis Chalmers or did they continue with the Advance Rumely name?

Allis had two sizes of threshers. A 28 inch and a 22 inch. The 28 inch was a carry over from Rumely. I have seen a few that had Rumely name on the tallings elevator and had the Allis name on the blower pipe. The 22 inch was built by Allis for the WC tractor. Allis did do a number of things different on the smaller machine. Some of these also had the Rumely and Allis name on them. They dropped the Rumely name on the later ones. Allis built the 22 inch machine until 1936 which is after they came up with the allcrop combine. One thing i don't understand is AC made quite a few changes for the last year of production. They changed the tounge and front axle from wood to steel. They went from 4 spring suspension to one spring suspension in the front. They also moved the tool box from under the machine to on the step above the blower fan plus a few other minor changes. My machine is a 1936 and is painted all orange and has the AC name on the blower pipe and tailings elevator. Here is a picture of my machine. Matt

Matt, Thanks for sharing your picture and information about Allis Chalmers Thrashers.

You know, your view of the Thrasher looks like the rear of a 60 All Crop. Perhaps a lot of the changes in the last year were the result of work on the 60.

Is there a market for these old thrashers? I know where one is that doesn't look that bad. I believe it to be a Allis for he has tons of others Allis stuff.

Thanks Matt for your input on the Allis Chalmers thresher. My brother had seen one at an Amish farm sale here in Michigan. Neither of us had ever run across an Allis Chalmers thresher and was wondering if it was for real. Your info and picture gives proof of that plus the one he saw. Great job on the restoration of your machine.

I'm sure there is some carry over. Back then I'm sure it was a hell of a job to build anything from scratch. It does look suspiciously like an All Crop....

	I've seen pictures of ones painted Orange with AC decals. I don't know if they ever built any after buying out Rumley, may have just assembled the left over parts.

	Now that you guys mention it, the side view looks very similar to an all-crop, especially fan location etc.

	Before I saw Bill's post I was thinking the same thing too. Makes me wonder if there is any similarities in the separator section with an All Crop...
