I found a new block for my tractor and overhauled it. I replaced the clutch when the tractor was split. The clutch kit said not to adjust the fingers, so I didn't. I put everything back together, ran the tractor, realised I needed to adjust the distance in the release bearing. I can't get enough adjustment to release the clutch. Has anybody adjusted the clutch fingers through the inspection hole, or am I going to have to split the tractor again? Also.. I was wondering about the oil pump. I rebuilt it, everything new. I get oil up to my rockers, but it seems to only get 10psi. I don't know what the pressure was on the old pump, but pressure relief springs were broke in 3.. and the tractor ran fine.

Fingers can be adjusted thru the hole underneath if you have the right wrenches. |

I have found on the D14 15 and 17s that some times you need to bend the fork. I think that the clutch plate is too thick because you can't get enough adjustment on the fingers ! at least that is what I have found.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am going to try adjusting them through the hole. I guess I can always split it later if I can't adjust it correctly. The adjusting screw differs from what is in my IT manual. The adjusting screw is actually a bolt and nut in the replacement clutch. Looks like 7/16 or 1/2

Before you do anything, contact Rick Corder. There are several factors that cause that problem. He can straighten you out. I made a fixture to measure the clutch, pressure plate and travel with tractor split. If the disc is too thick, fingers will be low, adjusting them will not eliminate problem. You will more than likely have no free play between fingers and through out bearing. If flywheel has been turned very much, it will even be worse to correct. HTH Tracy
