Just bought a 1947 Allis Chalmer model C.
My amp meter Box has the amp meter, 2 toggle switches, and a push button. One of the toggles operates the headlights, 1 activates something else which I've traced through a fuse but not to a thing, and I cannot figure out what the push button does. Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks. Timmydou65 from Texas [ |

some have installed a push button for a starter... Does yours have the PUSH ROD to the starter motor, or does it have a SOLENOID installed in the circuit..
Toggle for the lights... The other is an ignition ON switch or a magnito KILL switch. below is the wire diagram on mine..... it has an alternator, not a generator... ![]() Edited by steve(ill) - 27 Aug 2022 at 3:56pm |

If you have a magneto its possible the push button is a KILL BUTTON for the mag.. hold it down till the motor dies, then let go.... On a distributor, you would need a toggle switch for CONSTANT power to run............ how do you KILL the motor right now ?
But if the button is the KILL, then you still need to see what the other TOGGLE is for.. possibly a rear light or ?
